Of course you can compile GTK+ C written code with g++.
C++ understand ANSI C and Gtk+ is designed to use this compiler with
specific directives :

#ifdef __cplusplus
extern "C"
{
#endif
// Bla bla 
#ifdef __cplusplus
}
#endif
