I never knew those documents existed, but then again I never went looking for them. Now that look I notice that they are referenced on the download page at www.gtk.org, and right in the INSTALL file. It describes PKG_CONFIG_PATH, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH too. After thinking about the long thread, the biggest problem I guess is people just not looking at this document. Maybe it should be a little more bold font on the web page, and worded more strongly to encourage people to read it. Anyways, I'm going to look over the online document and see what I think needs any small improvements.
