Making gpm work.

I have tried 1.20.4 and 1.20.6, and neither can be made to work right. Mev is supposed to work in raw bash console, but simply exits again; cannot find rmev. Tried simple program a la Padalla, must hit enter to get event; says to set
gpm_morekeys !=0 to automate it, but then the events are all null. I am getting ready to hack deep into libgpm but would like to avoid that. All I wanted was to port a small ap to linux from dos, where, using int33h, I can grab basic mouse
events with a few kbytes and a low level driver like ctmouse.  Can anybody help with this? Richwb2ztn@xxxxxxxxx.
