Actually, you don't need to wait for the feature to be removed if you
think you don't want the feature. You can just stop using it. Or am
I missing something?

To my knowledge (not being a 2.5 user, yet), the kernel does what
it ought to do with usb stuff. Serial and ps2 is passed to user space
as usual. And, as far as I understood, USB protocols are pretty
standardized, so the mess we have with serial protocols doesn't exist
at all in kernel space.  I may be wrong, though.
