You are correct. Our typical scenario is that we have a school with
perhaps 5 or more Polycom endpoints. I would like to have them register
with a local GnuGK which would be setup on a box with separate LAN and
WAN interfaces. (I don't want to allow any registrations from the WAN
interface.) Now there is a statewide gatekeeper (running GnuGK 2.2.2,
BTW) which we would need our local GK to "neighbor" with in order to
complete calls with other schools.

In your steps below, I wonder if there would be firewall issues with #4
if terminal A & B attempt to talk to each other directly. Wouldn't
terminal A's school firewall prevent the exchange? Also, how would
terminal B even know how to contact terminal A since A has a private IP?
