Re: GNUGK and LDAP support

Probably the best version to use with LDAP is 2.0.8.
The 2.2 branch does not contain LDAP support (it's also removed from documentation),
but this does not mean it is dropped. It will be reintroduced with H.350
support when other more urgent things are done.

It's difficult to know if there is a support for LDAP or not with GNUGK 2.2.1 :

a.. http://www.gnugk.org/gnugk-manual-1.html : MySQL and LDAP are supported as backend database for authentication.
b.. Changes from 2.2beta1 to 2.2beta2 : old LDAP support removed from the source code tree.
c.. Mailing list : A few people may want to stay with the 2.0.x branch for now: - LDAP support was removed from the 2.2 release for now, because the implementation was broken and not thread-safe
d.. 2.2.1 html documentation : Section [GkLDAP::LDAPAttributeNames] and Section [GkLDAP::Settings]

Well, where is the truth ? On CVS, there is no file with 'ldap' in the last version so I suppose that is not supported. Is 2.0.9 version a good one for ldap support ? I saw some compile problem in the mailing list.

The support of LDAP will be OK in future release ?

Thanks,

Eric
