If you make the call from a phone, you will hear an immediate fast busy tone, but the call attempt does not appear in status port as CDR after you hang up. Debugging GNUGK (debug trc 6) and IP (tcpdump) reveals the attempt by looking at source port, since each call uses 1 new TCP connection.
This scenario results in having less total calls than the origination's records.

do you mean calls are droped as in not completed or calls are completed, run
for a while and then disconnect.
