Netmeeting on gnugk in proxy mode - calling IP addresses

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

the situation is as follows:

- gatekeeper: gnugk 2.0.6 on a linux box, proxy mode
- client 1: Netmeeting, logged on to the gatekeeper.
- client 2: Netmeeting, not logged on to the gatekeeper.

          dial up connection
                  |
              gatekeeper
             192.168.0.1
                  |
        +---------+---------+
        |                   |
    client 1              client 2
  192.168.0.2           192.168.0.3

When trying to connect from client 1 to client 2 using
the IP address of client 2, Netmeeting gives me the
error message: "The person you called is not registered
with the gatekeeper". Logging on client 2 to the
gatekeeper and calling the alias works fine.

Googling arround I found that this is a problem with
Netmeeting since Netmeeting tries to call the alias
"192.168.0.3" instead the ip address 192.168.0.3.
I also found that commercial products habe a built in
work arround, they check if the given "alias" seems to
be an IP address and if so they correct it and then
establish the connection to that IP address.

Is there such a feature in gnugk? If not I would like
to add it to the wishes list. ;-)

This is my ini file:

--- snip ---
[Gatekeeper::Main]
Fourtytwo=42
TimeToLive=600

[RoutedMode]
GKRouted=1
H245Routed=0
CallSignalPort=1720
CallSignalHandlerNumber=2
AcceptUnregisteredCalls=1
RemoveH245AddressOnTunneling=1
DropCallsByReleaseComplete=1
SupportNATedEndpoints=1
Q931PortRange=30000-39999
H245PortRange=40000-49999

[Proxy]
Enable=1
#InternalNetwork=192.168.0.0/24
T120PortRange=50000-59999
RTPPortRange=50000-59999
ProxyForNAT=0

[GkStatus::Auth]
rule=allow
--- snap ---

Please note that the InternalNetwork option is
commented out for testing purposes. (So I don't
have to establish expensive dial up connections.)
In the future all internal clients will be logged
on to the gatekeeper.

Thanks for help
  Jan
