Word on the asterisk list is that ATA-186 units shipped by Vonage have a 
password set to prevent reconfiguration/reloading the firmware thereby 
keeping the units pointed to the Vonage system.

I'm sure if they'd be very interested if the techniques described here 
work.  Hopefully those on this list who have the units will report back 
on their success or failure.
