The libgcj Xlib peers are very minimal and use CNI -- the native bits
would have to be rewritten before it could be used in Classpath.

You may be more interested in the  Xlib peers based on a pure java X
protocol implementation that Roman was playing around with.  I don't
remember what this library is called but it is related to his
swing-based AWT peer work.
