Yes, that would be helpful.

And, please, if you do want to work on this, I urge you to do so, but  
please do it in a branch. I know a few of us don't think that the  
approach has merit, but we do recognize that others may find it of  
value, and we don't want to stop development just because of that.  
And I don't have a concrete replacement for it either, so I may just  
be playing armchair coder here.
