Please make it little descriptive. U said, when it is supposed to load Gnome., means you cannot see the screen. :( Anyway, which Gnome u use, latest 2.16 or previous. I think this may be problem with ur distribution, not GNOME, because I have edited my menu many times, never got any problem like you discussed. So, i think you should once ask at ur Linux distribution forums. R u using XGL???
