OpenSuse 12.3 and Gluster

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I have installed Gluster 3.6.8 on our cluster and have created a gluster volume with bricks from several unused disk chunks from different nodes which run Suse 11 (SLES 11SP3 x86_64). I ran some test and everything seems to work fine on the cluster, ie. could read from  and write to the gluster volume. However when I tried to install gluster on different workstations, all runing OpenSuse 12.3, I have failed completely. I tried different gluster versions (3.7, 3.6, 3.5,…), trying to satisfy the required dependencies in every case, but, despite the installation process seemed to complete without problems in many cases, gluster did not work on the workstations. Depending on the version installed, I got a segmentation fault when running the command “gluster”, or I got the gluster prompt but then it was inoperative (it did not do anything with any command other than “help”).

In some cases I found that the gluster daemond could not start or, more probably, that it started and stopped right away. For example with the most recent version (gluster 3.7.6), when I ran the command

/usr/local/sbin/gluterd –l gluster.log

these were the contents of gluster.log:

If there is anybody who has been able to install gluster on OpenSuse 12.3 and make it work, I would appreciate any suggestions.

Regards,

Jordi
