That one is huge. It brings ino fixes along with a lot of other changes.
Should I just extract the inode relevant part? Or is the whole change
self-contained (I mean not dependent on other changes) and will only
bring benefits?


It will surely bring only benefits. But if you are just trying to address one thing at a time, then just extract the ino related changes only. (which is easier by referring patch in master branch). These two patches will make it to 3.2.x branch after 3.2.5 release.
