I've been using glusterfs -s server /glusterfs and just recently it's stopped working. The following is in the logs:

2009-03-06 10:34:10 W [fuse-bridge.c:2903:fini] fuse: unmounting '/glusterfs'
glusterfs -f configfile does still work though.
