The top half is from the server - unfortunately, i didn't have debug
enabled at the time.

In any case, the machines were rebooted (powered down and physically
moved), and when i brought them back up, they connected properly (on
the new IPs).  When i changed the addresses back to the original set, i
didn't receive the authentication problem a second time...
