URL: <http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?20188> Summary: Building on glusterfs requires absolute latest fuse/ibverbs libs not yet available via yum/apt Project: Gluster Submitted by: ynot Submitted on: Saturday 06/16/2007 at 17:22 Category: None Severity: 3 - Normal Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Operating System: None _______________________________________________________ Details: When we install Fedora 7, and use yum or apt to update all the libraries to the latest versions, it is still not good enough to get glusterfs running. The versions of fuse and ibverbs that were required are newer than what is available through yum or apt-get. So normally when a user wants to install glusterfs, they should be able to run "yum install glusterfs" or "apt-get install glusterfs" and it finds all the dependencies and installs them on the system. Currently glusterfs is not available. if i run "yum install fuse", and download the latest version of fuse that is available via yum or apt, it is still not new enough. i have to go to the original sources and get the versions newer than what is available through yum or apt, and build the tarballs, configure, make, make install etc. Until the glusterfs is available through yum, if i download the tarballs, it should work with the standard versions of fuse and ibverbs that are being released as the latest public versions. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?20188> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.nongnu.org/
