That was actually part of this thread's problem: There was no easy way
for none-admins to even see *what* had been deleted since there was no
easy way get at the history for the deleted user page of a banned user.
Based on that content, probably most people would have sympathized with
the deletion, although not necessarily with the (lack of) communication
flow.
