I can hardly imagine a situation when user somehow edits thnumbnails in .thumbnails other than thrashing 'em to free some space on a hard drive :) But yes, simple way to go to a hidden directory from keyboard should exists, because just typing "~/.something" doesn't work, you have to type a full path.
