[Gimp-developer] Re: color management

Hello.

Several mails in this thread says that the images will be converted
between colorspaces, such as monitor colorspace.

Does GIMP keep two versions of the same image: one for image processing
and saving, and one for displaying?

I remember how XV converted images to fit better to the display.
If one had 8-bit display (and most had), the image was quantized to
8-bit. Then when the image was enhanged and saved as jpeg, one
could see that the jpeg image contained the quantized and dithered
8-bit image! People lost their 24-bit images because they used XV to
trim and flip the images!!

Please don't make the same mistage with the colorspace issue.
Worse is if you force people to convert images in lossy way
as you have planned.
