The reason I wondered about this part of the problem is that libgimpui should ot have unsatisfied external references. It is a common bug (gtk-enginges for example suffered from this) to NOT link shared libraries against any other libraries, i.e. gtk-enginges was not linked against gtk+, relying on the "fact" that the main application would eventually link against it.
