(sorry if this is the wrong place for bug reports, but it makes sense to send them here :) Had 1.1.9 crash on me twice, doing the same thing: Added text in a new layer (clicked text tool, typed in text (clicked ok), clicked the anchor button to put the text in the new layer). the keey transparent button was not selected. when the text was placed in the new layer, it "filled-up" the layer (wasn't a dotted yellow line around just the text, but rather around the entire layer). then, clicked on the selection tool and tried to select just the text. gimp went down when i first clicked to try to select it with this: IMLIB ERROR: SHM can't get SHM Identifier for Shared Pixmap Wrapper Falling back on Shared XImages IMLIB ERROR: SHM can't get SHM Identifier for Shared XImage Falling back on XImages IMLIB ERROR: Cannot allocate RAM for shape XImage data Gdk-ERROR **: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) serial 187603 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0 aborting... /usr/local/bin/gimp terminated: sigabrt caught Gdk-ERROR (recursed) **: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) serial 187604 error_code 9 request_code 55 minor_code 0 aborting... /usr/local/bin/gimp terminated: sigabrt caught ** WARNING **: wire_read: unexpected EOF (plug-in crashed?) (i wasn't using any plug-ins at the time. just trying to select some text). it might have run out of memory (have vmware running on another desktop :P), but it might want to check for available memory before allocating and trapping the error somehow to let the user save his/her work. anyways, words can't begin to say how thankful i am for the gimp, so i'll put it simply by saying "thanx", understanding you know it's a big one. :) -=Scott gPhoto Contributor www.gphoto.org
