RE: [Gimp-docs] "ko" and "zh_CN" indexterms

Hello Dust and all -

I don't have any way to do builds here now, so I really don't know
how it is supposed to be built.

But as far as building the files that go on the gimp.org website is
concerned, those are built by Roman and put up there "nightly" (which
really means when he feels like it, I think :-) ).

As nearly as I can tell, Makefile.am creates Makefile.in. The makefile
has a target for MAKEINDEX, which uses stylesheets/makeindex.xsl to
create the index. It looks like Roman worked on makeindex.xsl most
recently, so he is probably the one who can tell us about how the
index is created. (At least, that's what it looks like to me!)

As for Marco's earlier question about the items at the top of the
Italian index, you probably also noticed that English has a lot of
those, too, including most or all of the ones that the Italian one
does. I looked very hard at the Italian "eraser" item and I didn't
see anything wrong with the .xml file. The exact wording (La gomma)
occurs in that file only once -- inside the <title> tags and not
in index entries. That indicates to me that it is possible that those
things are the result of a bug in the makeindex procedure. But since
I don't understand it, I can only hope that someone who does understand
it will be able to fix it.

Julien's comment that the index creation doesn't handle letters with
diacritical marks correctly, along with the missing Chinese, Korean
and Russian indices, might tell us something, too.

I haven't worried too much about the English index yet, but one of
these days, I'll have to do something about it -- if the next version
of GIMP doesn't come out before that. :-)

Sally
