Hi there,

David Neary answered my e-mail from the other day, with a cc to the 
list. Since I never received the copy through the list, and it is a 
subject I 'd like to see more opinions on, I am forwarding it back

You might want to look at Ops as well.

This is exactly what Ops do :) Although Calvin might be able to
explain better how they fit into gegl now. I'm sure the code you
wrote fits into that plan somewhere.
