Nvptx GPU offloading using OpenMP4.5 and GCC 7.3 - internal compiler error

Hello,

I am currently trying to install the GCC-7 compiler with offloading
capabilities for nvptx on the NVIDIA Jetson TX2. Unfortunately without
success so far. I used https://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/Offloading and https://
kristerw.blogspot.nl/2017/04/building-gcc-with-support-for-nvidia.html
as a main reference. I have adapted the install script provided by the
latter reference during the try to resolve the problem (Attached:
download.sh and install.sh).

I am able to successfully build nvptx-tools, GCC-nvptx and GCC-host
compilers without errors. I also tried to use a newer Binutils version
(2.30) as suggested here: https://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-help/2017-09/msg00
045.html. 

But if I try to compile a first openMP example: 
gcc main.c -O3 -fopenmp -foffload=-lm -v -o prog -lm

I get an internal GCC error: mkoffload: internal compiler error: in
main, at config/nvptx/mkoffload.c:507.

I tried the same procedure also on a bigger machine (x86_64, 256GB RAM
and 56 cores) and I was able to run the example. The Jetson TX2 offers
on the other hand only 8GB of RAM.

I have attached the compile script, preprocessed file and the full
compiler output.

Unfortunately I do not have a very deep insight into GCC and have not
the knowledge to track down where the issue exactly lies. Any pointer
or support which helps to solve this problem is highly appreciated
because I had no luck in resolving the problem by myself.
