Some strange GCC configure options in Ubuntu distro may also
caused the issue. If lcov v1.13 doesn't work, you may try to compile
GCC yourself.

My GCC was configured with:
../configure --prefix=/usr --with-system-zlib \
--enable-languages=c,c++,fortran,go,objc,obj-c++ \
--program-suffix=-6.3 --libdir=/usr/lib64 \
--libexecdir=/usr/lib64
