Is it necessary to use the local native compiler - xlc in this case, to
compile gcc ?
For AIX, there some issue with the priority that the operating system
gives the shell that causes this issue I think.
From recollection setting
CONFIG_SHELL=/usr/local/bin/bash
(or whereever bash is installed)
is the fix
I certainly had this issue when I compiled gcc on AIX, and overcame it
in this way.
