You mention things working on Linux, so is this a homebuilt program, or a package you're porting? I doubt it's the makefile that's the problem... BTW, I have gcc 4.1.0 running on AIX 5.3 and 6.1, and gcc 4.2.3 on 6.1 and all work just fine for 99% of the pre-packaged things I've found, and all of my custom apps (except for my own errors, of course...).
