Building GCC for 64-bit architecture

Hiiii,

I want to build GCC for a 64-bit
architecture(AMD-Opteron, IBM Power5 Series).

1.Can anyone suggest from which version GCC supports
64bit architecture?

2.What all options I need to give during the
configure?
