Hello, haven't seen the problem you mentioned in HP-UX. Did you build gcc yourself, or are you using pre-supplied binaries? In either case, if you use a gcc built for HP-UX 11.00 on 10.20, you may have problems. The gcc binaries from the HP-UX porting center <http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/> are usually pretty reliable.
