Summary: Gaim hangs on startup (Win 98)

Initial Comment:
I installed Gaim 1.4 on Thursday last week (July 14)
and have noticed the following:
1. When it loads completely, it takes a long time (30
sec to 1 minute)
2. It usually doesn't load completely. It gets
registered in the task manager, but does not pop-up a
task window.
3. Shutting down my laptop and starting it up again,
sometimes makes gaim work correctly.

I've got the most current patches available for win98
as possible.

Something is significantly different between this new
version and the previous one.

Any advice would be appreciated.

This bug is fixed in the most recent version of Gaim. If you are
not using the lastest version, please upgrade. If you are using
the latest version, please indicate so and reopen this bug.

See ticket [1367431] for a comment on what might the
problem:

[Did you have a lot of disk I/O on startup? If you wait long
enough does it eventually start up? If so stop gaim and
restart, it should immediately start.]

Today I installed the current download file for gaim (1.5.0)
and the same thing happens.

When I activate Gaim, it registers with the task manager but
no window or other access to gaim is present. When I check
the task manager , it tells me gaim is not responding.

Going back to the 1.3 version.

Any idea what is causing this?

FYI: I've uninstalled 1.4 and gone back to 1.3.1 which works
much better.
