This bug is fixed in the most recent version of Gaim. If you are
not using the lastest version, please upgrade. If you are using
the latest version, please indicate so and reopen this bug.

Same here!

I'm new to Gaim and instant messaging. I was hoping that I
wouldn't have to download ICQ, but until someone solves this
problem . . . . oh, well.

I'm using Windows XP, Gaim 0.8, dialup internet.

I, too, have this problem: all that happens with IM is an
immediate disconnect. I created a new AIM account just to
check this, so now I have the same symptom on three accounts.

AIM itself works fine, so it is not AOL or the internet or
the password.

I checked and rechecked all of the options, and GAIM and AIM
both have all of the same settings. I went to the Norton
firewall and opened port 5190. I uninstalled and
reinstalled from a freshly downloaded copy\ of GAIM/GTK.

What did I miss?

I have been having the same problems for quite some time
though mine are a bit more specific: I can't sign in to my
AIM accounts with any version of Gaim after .80...Gaim .80
works fine (I'm using it as we speak) but any version after
that gives me an error message saying "Couldn't connect to
host". I also tried reinstalling each version of Gaim, but
it didn't work.

I'm a running Windows XP Home on LAN Internet (DSL with a
2Wire modem). I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks.
