It is clearly not using all of that processing power, as other programs can "win back" CPU percentage from Gaim, but only as much as they need (i.e., Gaim sucks up all unused CPU time, with the end result being 100% ALWAYS). Nero works perfectly fine if Gaim is not running, but if Gaim is open, even minimized in the taskbar, the 100% issue reappears. I have experienced this problem on both Windows XP Professional and XP Home. I've reinstalled Windows and the problem has not gone away, but when I first began using Nero and Gaim together (maybe version 0.60 or so? ) I did not experience this problem--the programs could run simultaneously without maximizing the CPU. Perhaps this bug was introduced with an update of Gaim. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: TJ Balingit (tjbalingit) Date: 2006-01-04 02:54 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1418933 i just started getting this same issue very recently. i believe it started when i upgraded my version of nero burning rom to the latest (v7.0.1.4). i don't believe i was seeing this with the version i was using previous (nero v6.6.0.13). i've been using gaim 1.5.0 for winxp pretty much since it came out and i'm using the version of gtk that comes with it. usually i'll just be running gaim normally and i'll startup nero to burn a cd and i'll see this problem occur. here's some info about how i'm running... let me know if you need more. protocols being used: aim (x2), msn plugins being used: auto-reconnect, buddy state notification, release notification, system tray icon, wingaim options ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel Atallah (datallah) Date: 2005-12-16 08:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=325843 I use Nero regularly with gaim running and haven't ever seen this. What version gaim are you running? What plugins do you run? What protocols are you using? Does the cpu usage problem occur at the gaim login screen or.. only when a specific protocol is used?
