Summary: "Multiple Instances of Gaim" Error

Initial Comment:
Since I have Gaim as a system tray icon, I sometimes
forget to click the tray icon instead of the desktop
icon, and then I get the stupid "Error: Already have an
instance of gaim running". Is there a way to change
the Gaim desktop shortcut to maximize/minimize Gaim
instead of trying to create another instance of Gaim?
Ideally I would be able to launch Gaim if it isn't
running, and then maximize/minimize the buddy list if
it is running. Please let me know if there is a patch,
plugin, or some sort of fix for this. Thanks.

If you get someone to code it, you certainly could use
whatever binary they create. This isn't something that
could be achieved with a plugin.

So is this something that only I could modify in my own
version of Gaim, or would somebody be able create a patch
that I could use to get the same effect?

Sadly, I'm not. I know a little java and html, but that's
of no real consequence here. ..... Yeah....

If you are C inclined, it should be possible to modify the
source to do what you want to do.

Would there be anyway to create a patch or plugin for this?
Or is it basically stuck until a new version of Gaim comes
out? Thanks.

It is not currently possible to manipulate the running gaim
instance through an external executable.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to implement this, but
ideally this would part of the gaim-remote functionality
(not currently available on win32).

If it isn't possible to max/min through the desktop
shortcut, is there a run command (Note: I'm on windows XP)
or some other process I could manually activate (say through
a widget) to max/min the buddy list? I looked at the debug
window for when I max/min the buddy list, and it called
"gtkappbar: wnd_showwindow". I have no clue how to access
that, if it is accessible, but that seems like it would be
the best thing to call. Once again, thanks for any
assistance with this request.
