Ah, so it's opposite. :) I assume he wants the latin from the Chinese so that it is monospaced in the same fashion? Otherwise, the fonts made for latin text are typically far superior. I know what I'm about to say is totally silly, but I once managed to achieve what I wanted by deleting the latin characters from the Chinese font altogether. Then I found a slightly cleaner fontconfig way of doing it. But the fact that it behaves differently by locale is problematic when the config was specified.
