NetworkManager is presumably running that for you if you have
an interface configured with a 'dhcp' prototype so either the first
response is incomplete, or there is a timeout somewhere, or there is
something not expected in an interface configuration, or ...
well, no, nm is not setting the gateway. after disabling and reenabling the network (on nm-applet), all gateways are gone.
strangely enough, this happens only with this speedtouch router. it does not happen with an tplink router i use sometimes. (actually it happens if i update the tplink firmware to the latest version, but i'm not gonna do it :) not again!)
You may try to trace 'nmcli'. Maybe this will give you a better
insight what is happening. Do you have a default route already
configured elsewhere? BTW - 'man nmcli' has some information.
i'll do it tomorrow, when i'll return to office.
Sounds like you are bringing this interface as IPv6 only for some
> what means "Require ipv4 addressing
> for this connection to complete" ?"
reasons while the other side wants to see IPv4. Just a guess ...
no, ipv6 is always disabled, by default, here at least.

thank you very much
