where I found what appear to be Fedora 12 Alpha images with exactly the same
behavior as above (all netinst and live images are oversized with the exception
of Fedora-12-Alpha-ppc-netinst.iso which is the correct size).  I'll post any
further progress reports there, though it's unlikely that I can narrow it down
any further.  The fact that ppc seems to be immune is probably a good clue,
though.
