Success! Adding "nouveau.modeset=0" did the trick and the machine now boots
into runlevels 3 and 5 with the displays native resolution of 1920x1200.
Two things though:
1. During boot I just got the same boring old progress bar at the bottom
that I also get on F11. Aren't I supposed to see a funky boot plugin with KMS?
Maybe plymouth and accompanying themes are not properly installed.
To recap:
Without nomodeset, but with nouveau.modeset=0, runlevels 3 and 5 do work.
Can you guys please update the bug with this info and add Ben Skeggs
(and possibly Dave Airlie?) to CC? Seems to me that we should cope with
the case where two graphics adapters are present...
We should, yes.
Dennis had already updated the bug, I've just added a summary.
BTW, Dennis, we have two issues there - could you please file another
bug regarding the performance issue with R700 on F12? We need to track
a single issue per bug report.
Done:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=553059
I've also checked my BIOS again and I cannot disable the on-board chip
there I can only select a priority of "onboard", "pci express" or "pci"
there. I've set this to "pci express" when I added the card to the system.
Regards,
Dennis
