The problem only affects systems with multiple displays (or, more rarely, systems with one display but a driver bug which makes X _think_ they have multiple displays, as in Robert's case). It's not an absolute showstopper, you can blindly tab-enter your way through the wizard, or you can just boot the first time with the second display not connected.
