NOTE:

This appears to happen only on GNOME and not on KDE.  I can't pinpoint problem.  I have three machines and two are running fine only this one is doing this :(

[root@localhost ~]# lspci

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 
5200] (rev a1)

The other ones are ATI card and Intel onboard and all is well.
