short, the workaround symlinks openssl-0.9.8j-1.fc11 installs
(/lib{,64}/lib{ssl,crypto}.so.7) point at the old (now gone)
libraries. Fixing that by hand makes things work.

[Yes, having yum, wget, ... not work _is_ scary.]
