After the most recent rawhide updates, found that gdm wouldn't start in
runlevel 5, x wouldn't start in runlevel 3. So, reverted gdm, still no
joy, so reverted the ati driver and the x11-xorg-drivers (removing the
mach64 and r128 drivers ), and now gdm started ok, but x would
mysteriously die taking gnome with it. Reverted server-Xorg and -common
and now things appear to be normal. This is an ASUS P5K-E mobo with
radeon 2600 graphics.
There seems to be some sort of synergistic problem that I can't really
pinpoint.
Any suggestions or anyone else seeing anything strange? Is it possible
recent kernel changes are playing a part?
Thanks
