Dear all, after removing kdepim and other stuff, kde updates got through :), however, I am still unable to login to KDE :(. I got the following when I typed startkde, because startx defaults to GNOME, even though KDE was set as the one :( [olivares@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa kde* kdebase-workspace-libs-3.97.0-2.fc9 kdevelop-3.5.0-5.fc9 kdenetwork-libs-3.97.0-4.fc9 kdebase-workspace-3.97.0-2.fc9 kdegames-libs-3.97.0-2.fc9 kdegraphics-3.97.0-4.fc9 kdeaccessibility-3.97.0-2.fc9 kdebindings-dcopperl-3.5.8-1.fc8 kdegames-3.97.0-2.fc9 kdelibs-3.97.0-6.fc9 kdegraphics-libs-3.97.0-4.fc9 kdebase3-3.5.8-19.fc9 kdemultimedia-3.97.0-2.fc9 kde-i18n-Spanish-3.5.8-1.fc8 kdebase-runtime-3.97.0-1.fc9 kde-filesystem-4-4.fc9 kdepimlibs-3.97.0-2.fc9 kdelibs3-devel-3.5.8-19.fc9 kdeedu-3.97.0-3.fc9 kdebindings-3.97.0-6.fc9 kdebase-3.97.0-3.fc9 kde-settings-4.0-5.fc9 kdeedu-libs-3.97.0-3.fc9 kdevelop-libs-3.5.0-5.fc9 kdemultimedia-libs-3.97.0-2.fc9 kdeutils-3.97.0-2.fc9 kde-settings-kdm-4.0-5.fc9 kdeartwork-icons-crystalsvg-3.97.0-1.fc9 kdelibs3-3.5.8-19.fc9 kdebase3-libs-3.5.8-19.fc9 kdenetwork-3.97.0-4.fc9 [olivares@localhost ~]$ [olivares@localhost ~]$ cat nokde-1.txt Script started on Fri 14 Dec 2007 07:19:23 PM CST [olivares@localhost ~]$ startkde xsetroot: unable to open display '' xset: unable to open display "" xset: unable to open display "" xsetroot: unable to open display '' Link points to "/tmp/kde-olivaresLNIVjW" Link points to "/var/tmp/kdecache-olivares" Link points to "/tmp/ksocket-olivares7bWMhJ" startkde: Starting up... /usr/bin/startkde: line 375: xprop: command not found /usr/bin/startkde: line 379: xprop: command not found kdeinit4: Aborting. $DISPLAY is not set. kdeinit4_wrapper: Warning: connect(/home/olivares/.kde/socket-localhost/kdeinit4__0) failed: : No such file or directory ksmserver: cannot connect to X server startkde: Shutting down... kdeinit4_wrapper: Warning: connect(/home/olivares/.kde/socket-localhost/kdeinit4__0) failed: : No such file or directory Error: Can't contact kdeinit4! startkde: Running shutdown scripts... /usr/bin/startkde: line 446: xprop: command not found /usr/bin/startkde: line 448: xprop: command not found startkde: Done. [olivares@localhost ~]$ exit exit Script done on Fri 14 Dec 2007 07:19:39 PM CST I will get back to the two computers on Monday gone for the weekend. I hope that at least on one I can run KDE, both have given me similar results. Thanks for helping out. Booting with enforcing=0, selinux=0 I can login and do my day to day work.
