Warren hit this a while ago: http://wtogami.livejournal.com/18992.html He suggests the following to fix it: gconftool-2 -s /apps/panel/general/toplevel_id_list --type=list --list-type=string '[top_panel,bottom_panel]' and, for what it's worth, this is supposed to be fixed in current rawhide. -w
