kvm/qemu/kernel ?
tested on an amd x2:
qemu-kvm -m 512 -no-acpi -boot c -hdb data.img -hda nlite.img
first start as user with standard perm's on /dev/kvm
open /dev/kvm: Permission denied
Could not initialize KVM, will disable KVM support
Could not configure '/dev/rtc' to have a 1024 Hz timer. This is not a fatal
error, but for better emulation accuracy either use a 2.6 host Linux
kernel or
type 'echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq' as root.
qemu: hardware error: register_ioport_write: invalid opaque
