That does not help. I am starting to think that the problem is in
the bootloader
or very early in the Linux startup process.
What program prints the messages:
"Loading initrd.img ..."
"Ready."
Those are both syslinux (well, isolinux in this case). Can you try
adding "earlyprintk=vga" to the kernel command line? That will
(hopefully) show us if it's actually getting to the kernel, and if so,
then how far.
