Hi,

both drives are PATA. Why should they be running in a compatibility mode ?

Anyway, I will grab a new kernel.

Will Fedora Core 6 ship with 2.6.18 or 2.6.17 ?

where the problem lies ?

You need a new enough kernel to handle the ICH6M SATA and PATA together nicely
and the devices not to be in compatibility mode.

Alternatively build 2.6.18-rc4-mm2 and select the Intel PIIX/ICH driver from
that without the "old IDE" PIIX driver and it should grab all the devices and
put them under /dev/sda /dev/sr0 etc using libata.

In our Toshiba laptop, we have the same controller. Both SATA, even though the specs when we ordered said IDE. The model numbers from the hardware browser both show SATA models. The different models caused me headaches due to this same problem. Both work like a dream with FC4.

Get the latest kernel first and search Google for ICH6 flags to set.
