Nor do we have any idea as to how widespread what you are seeing is. Until you are able to diagnose what's going on how do we know this isn't a fixable bug associated with the radeon driver that the screensaver just happens to expose or that its limited to your hardware? Calling for defaults to change without knowing why you see the stutter that your seeing post screensaver startup is a weebit premature. Someone clever is going to have to help you instrument your system so you can try to figure out exactly what the underlying problem is.
