i did a fc5t2 cdrom upgrade on a laptop fc4 machine (latest fc4 updates, and latest 2200 firmware). graphical boot comes up hosed (i get a couple messages saying x configuration is bad and then it locks up). i boot non-graphical, login line-mode, and do a startx and then everything is fine. i had gigabit eth0 and 802.11 eth1 on fc4. the upgrade seemed to want to force wireless to eth0. this left the network configuration information somewhat inconsistent (it sort of claimed that both eth0 & eth1 were wireless). kwifmanager could access the wireless ... but couldn't activate. i finally deleted both eth0, eth1 and the respective hardware; re-added them (even adding gigabit first, it became eth1 and wireless then became eth0). then enet & wireless were fine. btw, is there anyway in the network start interface to specify that ssid is hidden (other than doing it with iwconfig command). also, this is sony vaio laptop and something has gone amiss in some part of acpi(?) ... i'm getting a couple errors a second about not being able to read this or that value ... creating large syslog files ... to the point that i turn syslogd off as a work around. i had similar problem early in fc4 time-frame ... but then it cleared after some period and some number of updates (at some point i checked to see if it was still a problem and somehow it had gone away). i don't really know if it is a problem in fc5t2 or because i did an upgrade installation instead of a fresh install. -- fedora-test-list mailing list fedora-test-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-test-list
