Nice way of saying Anaconda should RTFM.
In actuality I had read "info grub" before posting.
"Info grub" does not mention SATA.

It appears that new motherboards are eliminating the traditional second
IDE controller as they add more SATA channels.  XP 2002 version install
CD hacks this without complaint.  So does 64 bit Suse 9.3.

The graphical installation offered the advanced option for
specifying where the boot goes.  Unfortunately 64 bit Suse
but not FC4 can run their install procedures in graphic mode
with the P5GD1 and AIW X600.
